And while I'm lying on the ground being kicked, maybe you could take care of my wallet?

Quote du jour: You're never as good as everyone tells you when you win, and you're never as bad as they say when you lose.
- Lou Holtz and John Heisler, The Fighting Spirit

So I submitted a résumé to a job site, as I have done many and more times before. This time, I get an email a few hours later. Not from someone who wants to hire me. This email is from someone on the job site who has been "assigned to review my résumé to see if it comes up to their standards."

Sadly, it does not. While it is clear that I have loads of experience in technical writing and editing, my résumé "does not have the sparkle and pizazz that one would look for in someone of my experience."

On the plus side, for a mere $350 they would be delighted to rewrite my résumé and make it stand out so that I would surely get hired by anyone with a pulse or a brain.

To me, this is like kicking someone when they're down, and then offering to take their money from them so that no one else will want to kick them. Purely as a kindness. Gosh.

Exercise du jour: 50 minutes on the elliptical
Done! And without any complaint from Damn Knee.

You're right, it IS mean. And opportunistic. And a big lie. To say nothing of being a possible conflict of interest. Just tells you don't want to work there.

What a jib! There are days I wish I could get in on a racket like that but I don't have the stomach for it. I think I was fitted with something like a "fair and honest chip" which can be very limiting when it comes to things like that.

I had an agent telling me something similar years ago and when I "argued" he launched into a tirade about how bad my resume really was. It all ended when I asked him what format it was in because I had submitted it in PDF and I had put a lot of work into it. It turns out they had dumped it out of Acrobat to Word and the formatting was completely messed up. He tried to apologize. I called him a jerk.

I bet that they say that to everyone! I'm sure that this person isn't able to remove your CV, they're just trying to exploit you and make money.

Good luck with your search.

The world is full of parasites seeking to profit from others. And our current economic malaise feeds their appetite and, sadly, provide a constant supply of hapless hosts into which the get their hooks.

I've never been impressed by people who do not actually create or produce anything but simply tell others how best to do it.

Yes, you do not need this advice and you definitely do not need to be involved with this company

The cheek!

Reminds me of the true story of one of my friends, lying on the ground close to unconscious after being thrown from the car in an accident one night, and the first passerby didn't want to call for help, but tried to steal his wallet.

What a terrible company. Terrible. Nasty. I bet it's a cutthroat environment. What jerks. Honestly, I can't stop thinking bad thoughts about them!

OK, puppies and rainbows. Better now. Glad you had such a good session on the elliptical. Good DK! :)
