Stretch or Kvetch

I've been doing pretty good with the steady exercising on the elliptical. (Well, apart from Friday, which, as I've already explained, never happened.) But I have been falling down in an epic fail when it comes to stretching. My subconscious apparently thinks it's not Real exercise and that I shouldn't have to do it.
It's going to be very hot this week, so I'm going to change up my schedule:
  • Morning: 15 minutes elliptical done
  • Noon: 30 minutes yardwork done
  • Afternoon: 30 minutes yard work and 15 minutes stretching. And maybe kvetching as well. done
For now, I'll skip the evening exercise and concentrate on doing things before it gets too hot.

Your subconscious and mine must be kin. Warm up, cool down, and strech are not needed, mine says. Those are a waste of valuable time, do the exercise and get it over, mine says.

Surely it should be stretch AND kvetch. Kvetching goes so well with many forms of exercise.
On the stretching front, I fooled myself into doing a little careful yoga tonight, things that put no weight at all on my bad foot, and didn't use my shoulder too much, since I did something to it at work, or perhaps it chose this afternoon to end its many weeks of painlessness. This is what makes yoga so hard now, having to think with every move "Can I do this safely?" after decades of floating through my daily practice on the wings of habit.

MessyMimi, do you have a way to reason with your subconscious? If so, please let me know.
MaryAnne, I'm sorry you're not floating on the wings of habit any longer. It's a lovely phrase.
