But I just keep pushing through and eventually the pain does go away. I just have kept going with the program but my pace is pretty slow. I get on the treadmill and do the walking at a 3.5 and jogging at a 4.7 but I'm reaching my endurance when I do. I figure that when I get to the end, I might have a slower pace. BUT I can't run which is something I've never been able to do either. And then after that I dunno. I was thinking about trying the 10k or running the 5k but trying to up my speed on the treadmill. I'm not sure what I'll do and that's what I've been looking for. Thanks for your blog. Good info and what I was looking for. I did Week 3, day 1 this morning and I don't know how I am going to do the next one. My knees hurt a little, as did my calfs. It is so encouraging to hear your stories.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33059794.post-36001100932081411212013-06-21T05:41:42.652-07:002013-06-21T05:41:42.652-07:00Hi there, I have tried jogging in the past and at ...Hi there, I have tried jogging in the past and at one time actually was just about at the 5K level, but then my health decided to screw me around for several years and I lost all motivation. Dabble a bit and then stop.

I have just registered for a Mud Hero event and bribed my son and hubbie to do it with me. It has been great motivation - I am now on Week 4, and just finished Day 2. Jogging for 5 minutes, as required was scary and I didn't think I could do it. But I did! I havn't even looked at next week, cos this week already freaked me out, lol!

I too, hate jogging in daylight, can't stand jogging in the evening, so depending on when I start work, I am sometimes out the door at 4:45 am. I see dog-walkers and other joggers, and always wear my sunglasses. It's silly, I know. I do tell myself, "you know what - you are up, you are out, and you are doing it! So be proud!

Once I can do 5k, following the time guidelines, I will begin to work on speed. And also, hopefully, won't be as shy about running around a park in public! I'm on week 3 and today was my first attempt at running for 3 minutes. I was up half the night thinking how impossible it would be. This fat girl is gonna do what for three minutes? I went down to the waterfront early in the morning. I thought for sure its too early for other people...wrong. So many runners. Damn them. But they all just smiled and gave me the runner's wave (I liken it to the motorcycle wave) and I'll be damn if I didn't run the three minutes not only once but twice. I had a good cry during the walking segment in between because I couldn't believe what I had just done. I got back to my car and took a picture of my sweaty self. Hair all messed up. Face red. But you know what else is in that picture? The biggest grin a girl could have. I can't wait until I get to the end and say I just ran a 5ktarahttp://www.263andcounting.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33059794.post-82527070211207660852010-02-14T08:09:01.355-08:002010-02-14T08:09:01.355-08:00Love the way you approached the whole program with...Love the way you approached the whole program with determination but also with flexibility, and learned so much in the process! I keep surprising myself.

I am a FIRM believer in the C25K program and that it will really work for anyone, anyone. Anyone, though, who is willing to keep pushing themselves that extra minute or step and whose only goal is to get through each day without worrying about 9 weeks, 3.1 miles, or 30 minutes.

I wasn't sure until this morning what my capabilities were, now I do.

I'm going to keep getting better and better.

Kyle
Getting Better and BetterKylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00235073044536622230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33059794.post-81250339145826937132010-02-12T06:32:07.442-08:002010-02-12T06:32:07.442-08:00This is really amazing. I'm also doing it for time, no speed, right now but plan to switch to speed after I get the time part going.

I also look ahead and get discouraged! Last week I looked at week 4 and thought, "no way I'll be able to do this!" But I did it! At week 1 I was looking at week 3 thinkig "no way!" My mind i my worst enemy, not my body. Each week prepares you for the next.

I have been literally amazed at the progress. Yeah, I'm afraid of the first 20 minute run. I really am. I think that will be a tipping point for me if I can complete it.

Good for you making it through the program!!! It's very helpful to me to see that others have been able to complete it.

Don't worry about size and running a 5K. You never know who you may inspire on the sidelines to start running. :)Kelly the Happy Texanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05141980277979631252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33059794.post-28654317990418719362010-02-12T06:21:08.521-08:002010-02-12T06:21:08.521-08:00Good for you! But the other day I tried some jogging intervals on DH's treadmill and my quads were sore for days! I guess I need to do it more often.WaistingTimehttp://www.waistingtimeblog.comnoreply@blogger.com
