Yes, it does lead to injury. From the way my trainer is starting my running drills (over 3 years since injury and still working my way back to running again someday), I can tell you that you can run incorrectly. Don't know about walking incorrectly, except the PT and trainer say "focus on pushing off from your butt, not reaching forward with your foot."
