What was impressive was that Hugh Jackman got me interested in seeing musicals that I'd never wanted to see before. For instance, I've always understood that <i>Carousel</i> had a sad ending. But the way he sang one song from that musical, about a man anticipating the birth of his son, was really, <i>really</i> good. You found yourself caught up in the man's hopes and wishes... or at least I did.
